This switchable profile/image transducer allows the user to select a pencil shaped sonar beam for profile measurements or a fan shaped sonar beam for imaging applications. The sonar head is usually mounted horizontally for profile applications and vertically for imaging applications. A sealed switch on the rear of the transducer selects the beam type. This transducer can be fitted at the factory as an option on Model 855 and Model 881 underwater scanning units.
